Friend, America’s electricity demand is growing fast, driven in part by AI data centers, hyperscalers, and other massive new electricity users. That raises an important question: Who should pay for the expensive grid upgrades needed to connect them? Martin believes the answer is clear: If a company creates the need for new infrastructure, that company should pay for it — not families and small businesses. That’s the principle behind Martin’s GRID Savings Act. The legislation would require the largest new electricity users to take financial responsibility for the grid upgrades needed to serve them, while creating incentives for these companies to invest in major transmission projects. It would also increase transparency and help protect grid reliability. America needs a stronger grid to keep up with growing energy demand. But working families and small businesses shouldn’t be left footing the bill for infrastructure built primarily to serve the nation’s biggest energy users. Martin is fighting for sustainable, affordable power and a more reliable grid for communities across the country. But he can’t do it alone.
