It’s Eugene Vindman. I really hate to say this, but the truth is we came up short of our goals on Monday night. I looked at the data myself.

With November getting closer, we just can’t afford to miss our goals. I know we’ve asked a lot over the last few days. But I need to ask one more time:

If you’re still not convinced, let me give you some context.

People may look at this race and think because I’m an incumbent, it’s safe. It’s far from that.

Last cycle, Republicans spent more than $11 million trying to defeat me. And they’re coming back for VA-07 because they know this is one of the most competitive seats in the country and will secure their path to defending their House majority.

We’re going to have to fight for every vote again.

That means reaching voters who haven’t heard from us yet. It means making sure we can respond when the attacks start. And it means having the resources to run the kind of campaign that can win this district.

We always knew this would be a close race. I’m not asking you to give because I think we’re doomed.

I’m asking because I know what it takes to win a close race — and we have to be ready.
