To help us streamline or email updates, here's a digest!

In an effort to streamline our email communication with you all, we are attempting to send you a weekly newsletter that gives you a recap of where we have been, our plans for the week, and give you the opportunity to take action to help Qasim win in November!

Important thing first… Dad joke from Qasim. You can share but be sure to use #QasimDadJoke

Did you hear the dad joke about Labor Day?
No? Well, it works!

Ok that wasn't the best. Here’s one more…

Do you know what makes a joke a dad joke?
When it becomes apparent.

Note from Qasim:
We had a great event with Mary L Trump last week. If you weren’t able to join us, check out this highlight.

There's too much happening this week for me to pick just one thing I'm most excited about. It's going to be a jam-packed week of interviews, meet and greets, and town halls. And we'll be topping it off with two more VOTE 2020 rallies in Dumfries and Gloucester!

*INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS*
Qasim was a guest on Activist Theology Podcast at 42:38, the host asks Qasim a question about systemic racism and he answers in part by talking about digital redlining. See transcript below:

“Digital redlining has become the new reality where broadband internet access is an absolute necessity, especially now. Our kids are not in school today and they're doing it remotely from home. Fortunately, we have broadband, but a lot of my district does not. We see, and there's a great story in the Baltimore Sun about this, about how broadband is laid out in predominantly white and affluent neighborhoods, but in black, Hispanic, and low-income communities, it's not.

Again, you're creating a class system built on these legacies of white supremacy that are just devastating our communities.”

Qasim appeared on Two Mics Up, a local podcast focused on happening around the DMV and racial justice. Redlining, current events, and bipartisanship were discussed on the Podcast. Listen here.

Building off of Qasim’s promise of transparency in donation requests, we are going to start telling you what our finance team is looking to support this week. Every dollar given here will go towards this ask and will be put in use immediately this week.

“This week, I’m focusing on us having the resources to keep our digital ads up. We also have some new ads we are looking to produce if we raise enough this week. We also just put up billboards throughout the district and we need to ensure they stay up from now until Election Day. Your donation this week will help us hit that goal!” - Tino
