It’s time to hold Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith accountable.
As you know by now, multiple national news outlets have confirmed reporting that President Trump referred to armed servicemembers who were killed or captured in the line of duty as “suckers” and “losers.”
Countless veterans and political leaders — Republicans and Democrats alike — have denounced President Trump’s comments and demanded an apology.
Yet Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has remained completely silent. That’s just not acceptable. What will it take for her to speak up for our veterans?
Let’s be clear: Support for the brave men and women who have sacrificed everything for their country is non-negotiable. To me, this isn’t a political issue — it’s just the right thing to do as Americans.
For our Commander-in-Chief to denigrate the service of those that served in the Armed Forces is truly reprehensible. And Senator Hyde-Smith’s silence condones calling our servicemembers “suckers” and “losers.”
It is long past due for Senator Hyde-Smith to clarify to the people of Mississippi whether she stands with President Trump — who she said she supports “100% of the time” — or if she supports Mississippi’s nearly 200,000 veterans and 12,000 active duty service members.
I’m running for U.S. Senate to be a voice for all Mississippians. That includes standing with the brave servicemembers who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our country — unlike Hyde-Smith.
