Gov. Beshear: Federal Public Assistance Approved for Communities Affected by June 2026 Deadly Flooding
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 2, 2026) – Following his request to President Donald Trump and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Gov. Andy Beshear announced that Public Assistance has been approved for at least 20 counties affected by widespread flooding that took place June 17-30 of this year. The severe weather event caused some areas to receive more than 8 inches of rainfall during a short period of time and took the lives of six Kentuckians.
“This flooding event was devastating for our state, and Team Kentucky worked quickly to conduct damage assessments and request federal aid so that Kentuckians and communities affected would have the support needed to recover and rebuild,” said Gov. Beshear. “I am thankful that we have received the much-needed news that Public Assistance will be available for at least 20 counties.”
The counties that have been designated for Public Assistance for the June flooding are Bullitt, Butler, Clinton, Cumberland, Garrard, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Henderson, Jackson, Jessamine, Madison, Meade, Mercer, Metcalfe, Ohio, Owsley, Rockcastle, Spencer and Wayne.
