Opportunity to Test Cokesbury Resources

Cokesbury Kids has developed two new resources to encourage worship and prayer among kids and is looking for churches to test them.
  • Art+Liturgy is a pastoral and worship planning digital resource for intergenerational, multi-sensory worship. pastors will get expert tips for preaching specific passages to kids, interactive liturgy, music suggestions, liturgy designed for kids, commissioned fine artwork, children's moment outlines, and more.
  • Worship with All God's Children Curriculum is a traditional One Room (preK-5th grade) Cokesbury Kids curriculum to bridge the experience of worship with children's peer-based faith formation. Children will explore scripture, develop worship practices that last a lifetime and learn the prayers and songs that they experience in all-church worship.

Keeping the Doors Open: A Resilience Initiative for Churches Serving Their Communities

Led by Global Ministries Environmental Sustainability and UMCOR U.S. Disaster Response, up to 20 U.S. UMC churches who offer community-based services will be selected to learn how to implement solar and/or battery storage so they can stay open when a disaster or power outage disrupts their normal operations. Churches accepted for this new pilot program will receive comprehensive guidance in using these technologies, and some may be eligible for grants to purchase solar and battery systems. Most stories have beginnings, middles, and endings, but those of us who are Christians have stories with a “before Jesus” and then “after Jesus”.  A majority of the people we encounter are in the “before Jesus” part of their lives, and we are encouraged, strongly encouraged, well, plain out and out commanded, to tell people about Christ. Wesley taught us to “Make a friend, be a friend, bring a friend to Christ”.

Festival of Sharing Information

It is now just one month from our upcoming SHAREFEST scheduled for Friday and Saturday October 2 & 3 at Crossroads Methodist Church at 501 S. Walnut Street in Dexter.  We look forward to seeing all of you who will be transporting your church's/organization's kits and packs you have been working on since last year.

Drop offs should arrive between 9:30 and 11:30 am on Friday.  Be certain to download a "Record of Giving" form from the festivalofsharing.org site and complete it with all the requested information and bring it with you when you drop off.  Please use the contact email for the person who directs your SHAREFEST activity instead of your pastor unless the pastor is the contact person who should receive all informational emails.

Please remember to label at least the top and one side of each box you bring in large magic marker to include MO if it is a pack that stays in Missouri and the # and name of the pack or kit included.  You do not have to print your church's name anywhere on the box since that info is recorded through your "Record of Giving" form. .  Blankets can be brought in garbage bags but need the # of blankets in the bag written on the bag.  Paper product bags need no labeling.

Any checks should be made out to "Dexter SHAREFEST" if it is meant to stay local.  If it is meant to go to the state office, write "MOAC"

If you'd like to be connected to the local Sharefest organizer and receive updates, contact Mary Ann Taylor at [email protected]

Registration is open for the Fall Conference
