Friend,
Austin resident Brian José Morales García was pulled over by Texas state troopers in April, handed over to ICE, deported to Mexico. But there’s only one problem:
Brian is a U.S. CITIZEN.

Brian’s deportation is shining a light on ICE’s 287(g) program — which creates links between local police departments and federal immigration agencies.
These agreements essentially deputize local and state police to act as ICE agents – taking them off their beats to conduct immigration enforcement, without training or knowledge of the law.
And unfortunately under Greg Abbott, Texas leads the nation in the number of these agreements with ICE. Instead of prioritizing the safety of Texas communities, Abbott is using our local law enforcement to carry out Trump’s unlawful mass deportation agenda.
At a time when ICE is menacing communities and families across our state, Texans should be able to trust their local police to protect their rights. These agreements destroy that trust.
That’s why I’m leading my colleagues in calling on local communities in Texas to END these partnerships with ICE. But we need your help to turn up the pressure.
If you agree, can you add your name to our fight? Click HERE to call on local communities in Texas to END their partnerships with ICE.

Thank you,
