At the start of the summer, a Fox News poll showed me 8 points ahead of Republican Jon Husted in Ohio. I took this poll with a grain of salt – but still, we were clearly surging ahead in a race that many people once thought was a long shot.

But over the past couple of months, the lies, attacks, and money have ramped up significantly. National Republicans are spending $133 million to defeat me – on top of $3.6 million from tech billionaire Peter Thiel – and now, the latest poll shows me trailing Husted by 3 points.

If you thought that the momentum was definitively on our side, this is your wake-up call.

Because what we really have to pay attention to is not just each individual poll, but the polling average of this race. Right now, it shows me at 47.8% and Husted at 47.2%.

This race is too close for comfort, and again and again, we’re well within the margin of error. Unless we have the resources to fight back against the GOP and surge ahead, Ohio could have another two years of Jon Husted, and the GOP could stay in control of the Senate until 2029.

But here’s the good news:

Folks like you have the power to change the outcome of this election and the future of our country. But it only works if we all get involved.

The single best thing you can do today to help us flip this seat and take back the Senate from the GOP is make a donation to our grassroots campaign. This is the most competitive and most consequential race in the country, and it will come down to resources. So I’m personally asking: Will you chip in $5?
