Black Maternal Health & Immigrant Justice in Florida April 2026
Dear Florida Rising Fam,
April calls us into truth, memory, and action.
During Black Maternal Health Month, we’re facing a reality we can’t ignore: Black mothers in Florida are still navigating a system that puts their lives at risk. Access to care, reproductive autonomy, and culturally competent support remain out of reach for too many, while policies like the state’s six-week abortion ban continue to restrict our freedom to make decisions about our own bodies.
At the same time, immigrant families across Florida are being targeted by harmful state laws and violence that create fear, instability, and separation in our communities.
These aren’t separate issues. They are the result of the same decisions, made by those in power, that put profit and control over people. And it’s our communities who are forced to carry the consequences.

Across Florida, our members showed and showed our for the “No Kings” protests, standing against authoritarian overreach and policies that continue to target Black and Brown communities. From the streets to the Capitol, we’re making it clear: our communities will not be silenced.
