Formerly All On The Line
Over the past few weeks, Mississippi lawmakers held the first two public hearings that will be taking place across the state — all about whether the state should redraw its maps.
They want to hear from citizens ahead of an expected push by the legislature to pass a new gerrymander in the next year.
The information coming out of these hearings is showing just how fired up Mississippians are to fight this. They’re calling out racial discrimination. They’re raising the very important point that the Supreme Court ruling that gutted the Voting Rights Act doesn’t require Mississippi to change its maps. They’re speaking out about what we’re all seeing take place in front of our eyes: an unprecedented, coordinated assault on the foundation of our democracy.
Redistricting Action is building the power to push back against any attempt to add Mississippi to the list of new gerrymanders. We’re mobilizing voters nationwide and standing in solidarity with rightfully angry citizens who don't want their voting power ripped away — in Mississippi and beyond.
