| | | LOUD AND CLEAR | Swinney Calls Out LSU | | USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect |
| “No pun intended, but we’re just going to stay in our lane.” | —Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney on Tuesday, referring to LSU and head coach Lane Kiffin’s attempt to sign players who participated in NFL preseason activities. Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who were waived by the Browns and Saints, respectively, were part of a group of players who sued the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility after it refused to grandfather them in to a new policy. | Their eligibility status remains up in the air, with a Baton Rouge judge set to hear oral arguments on a potential preliminary injunction on Thursday—a day before final rosters must be submitted. Swinney, whose Tigers face LSU in Death Valley in Week 1, said the idea of NFL players returning to college is “kind of embarrassing. … I don’t blame the kids, but people trying to take advantage of the system.” |
