Experience a live performance from acclaimed *Carlton Brass * in Nottingham Central Library’s atrium. Enjoy an evening of music, stories and entertainment as we explore the rich history of Britain’s brass band tradition.

The evening will also feature insights from leading brass band historian *Professor Trevor Herbert*, celebrating the *publication of his new book, The Brass Band Story.* Copies will be available to purchase from Five Leaves on the night.

Whether you’re a long-time brass band fan, love live music, or are simply looking for a unique night out in the city, this promises to be an entertaining and memorable evening.

Nottingham Central Library is proud to host this celebration evening for the Disability Sport Exhibition we are currently hosting on our first floor. 

The evening will begin with a series of short talks from key people involved in the development of disability sport in Nottingham, from grass roots to Paralympic pathways.

Join writer and Birkbeck professor *Julia Bell* for a two-hour workshop exploring the art of paying attention through reading and writing.

Drawing on the ideas in her books "Radical Attention" (Peninsula Press) and "Between the Lines" (Simon & Schuster), and on Simone Weil’s idea of attention as a moral and democratic act, the session moves between short readings, guided writing prompts and open discussion.

In the run up to Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Weeks, we’ve launched a campaign to find Nottingham’s favourite Feel Good Book.

Library staff and volunteers nominated their favourites and we’ve created a *shortlist of 6 books* from a variety of genres. We are inviting you to read as many as you can and vote on your favourite!
