WASHINGTON, DC — Yesterday, Chairman Clay Higgins (R-LA) of the House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement announced a roundtable titled “Suppressing the Second Amendment: Examining the DOJ’s Posture Toward Firearms Suppressors.” Scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd at 2:00 PM, the roundtable coincides with the 157th birthday of Hiram Percy Maxim, the inventor of the first suppressor.
“Suppressors are devices that reduce loud noise firearms make and protect people from immediate, permanent hearing loss…. This roundtable will highlight the legitimate use of suppressors and examine the current DOJ’s enforcement posture toward suppressors as laws rapidly evolve,” said Chairman Higgins.
ASA President and Executive Director Knox Williams will serve as one of three expert panelists, providing testimony on the importance of suppressors, ongoing litigation, and the need for consistency from the Administration.
The American Suppressor Association is honored by the Committee’s invitation to participate in this important discussion and looks forward to representing the suppressor community before Congress.
