Our elections are at risk, and we can’t look the other way.

John, when you see something wrong, you have a choice: speak up or look the other way.

Today, a USPS whistleblower spoke up and came forward with serious concerns about the Trump administration’s rushed new system for screening mail-in ballots.

NPR: Whistleblower claims USPS plan for Trump's mail voting order could 'derail' midterms

This new system was built in just three months and hasn't been properly tested. Just one scanning error could put batches of ballots in jeopardy.

This is exactly what Donald Trump wants, John. It’s part of his plan to restrict mail-in voting, silence and disenfranchise voters, and rig the midterm elections in his favor.

And it's not something we can ignore.

For more than a year of his term, Donald Trump has been focused on one thing: holding onto his unchecked power. He has shown again and again that he is willing to abuse his authority to get what he wants.

I know that firsthand. More than seven years ago, I saw Donald Trump abuse his power to pressure Ukraine into investigating his political opponent.

I knew it was wrong, so I spoke up. Trump retaliated against me for telling the truth. And his allies have continued trying to punish me for it ever since.

Today, another brave American stood up to him too.

Because when people in power abuse their authority, we have to stand up. When they threaten the integrity of our elections, we have to stand up. And when they try to weaken the institutions that are supposed to protect our democracy, we cannot just look the other way.

We need to do everything we can to stop this administration from undermining our elections and abusing its power.

And if we are serious about doing that, we need to change who has the power in Washington.

We need to take back the House. That starts with defending VA-07.

Can you contribute $3 today to help me defend this seat and help Democrats take back the House?

I’ve stood up to Donald Trump before. I’ll do it again. But I need you with me.

Thank you.

— Eugene
