Hi John,
There’s a conversation I think we need to have more often in American politics:
How do Democrats win in rural America?
I’m excited to be part of that conversation on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m., when I’ll join Senator Jon Tester and two other Democratic House candidates for a special “Conversation from the Farm” Zoom fundraiser.
I want you to meet the folks who will be joining us:
🌾 Jamie Ager is a fourth-generation farmer in Western North Carolina running for Congress in NC-11. Jamie runs Hickory Nut Gap Farm and decided to step up after seeing local leaders fail to respond to Hurricane Helene.
🐄 Rebecca Cooke grew up on her family's dairy farm in Wisconsin. She's a small-business owner and waitress running in WI-03 — one of our best chances to win a seat this year after she nearly won it in 2024.
And leading the way is Senator Jon Tester, a third-generation farmer who still works his land in Big Sandy, Montana. He brings a lifetime of experience as a teacher and state legislator to this conversation about rural America.
Of course, I’ll be there too.
A second-generation dairy farmer from Lisbon, right here in the North Country. I know what it means to work before sunrise, worry about the weather, care for your neighbors, and fight to keep a family farm going.
Our communities deserve leaders who understand that life because they’ve lived it.
I’d love for you to join us for this conversation about rural America, what it takes to compete in rural districts, and how we can build a Democratic Party that earns the trust of rural voters.
Hope to see you there,
Blake
