Dear John,

Every child deserves to arrive at school ready to learn--not distracted by an empty stomach.

For more than a million school-aged children in Texas, programs like SNAP help put healthy meals on the table. And when children have enough nutritious food to eat, they're better able to focus in class, stay healthy, and succeed in school.

For parents already making impossible choices between groceries, rent, child care, and utility bills, even a small reduction in food assistance can have a big impact.

Now, recent federal policy changes are putting new pressure on SNAP by making it harder for some families to receive benefits while shifting more of the program's costs to states like Texas. As lawmakers prepare for the next legislative session, the decisions they make could affect whether thousands of Texas children continue to have access to the nutritious meals they need.

That's why Texans Care for Children is preparing now. We're working alongside lawmakers, partners, and advocates across the state to protect SNAP and strengthen the policies that help children grow up healthy, well-fed, and ready to learn.

As children head back to school this fall, will you make a Back to School gift to help protect the programs they count on?

Your support powers the advocacy that helps Texas families access nutritious food, health care, quality early childhood education, and other essential services that give every child the opportunity to thrive.

Your gift in action:

$50 - Strengthen Our Voice

$100 - Power Our Advocacy

$250 - Fuel Statewide Action

$500 - Champion Texas Kids

Every gift--no matter the amount--helps us champion policies that prepare children for success in school and in life.

No child should have to worry about where their next meal will come from while trying to learn.

Together, we can help ensure every Texas child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
