Republicans are trying to pass a massive anti-veterans bill that cuts up to $57 billion in benefits, affecting millions of current and future veterans.1

What's worse, disability cuts aren't half of it. The same bill gives greedy lenders new ways to gouge veterans trying to buy a home, lines the pockets of private insurance companies, ignores individual medical records while making disability ratings determinations, and more.

Republicans are deceptively calling their bill the “Take Care of America's Veterans Act,” but it actually cuts the earned disability compensation of the people who served. Among other injustices, it eliminates tinnitus as a standalone compensable disability, meaning veterans who file after enactment will be denied compensation for the single most common service-connected condition in the VA system.

The bill also nearly triples a VA home loan fee, adding thousands of dollars to the cost of buying a home for the veterans this benefit was created to serve. It even opens up VA facilities for privatization by allowing commercial construction codes and leasing arrangements.

These provisions will all have disastrous impacts on our nation’s current and future veterans and their families, and Congress must stop them NOW.
