Last week, The Atlantic published a bombshell story.

According to four sources, President Trump repeatedly mocked American soldiers
killed in battle, calling them “losers” and “suckers,” and loudly wondering at a
military cemetary: “What was in it for them?”

We don’t have to wonder if this is true -- we have the receipts. Back in 2015,
Donald Trump the candidate said: “I like people that weren’t captured.” He said
that about Senator John McCain, including even tweeting out in July 2015 that
John McCain is “a loser.”

So you can understand how it’s hard for me, and so many other Americans, to
believe Donald Trump’s promises that the story is false. If the tweet fits, after all.

It can feel hard to fight back against rhetoric like this, especially from the
Commander-in-Chief. But we can turn our anger into action: Donald Trump’s
comments at our military monuments and cemeteries reinforce the need to honor
our veterans, and one of the best ways is to support the Honor Flight Network.

The Honor Flight Network brings veterans from WWII, the Korean War, and the
Vietnam War to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials to their service.
Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the chance to share this
momentous trip with other veterans, to remember friends and comrades lost, and
share their stories and experiences with each other.
