I want to tell you about a conversation I'll never forget.
I sat down with Justice Clarence Thomas for his first-ever podcast interview, on my show Verdict. Before we even started recording, he thanked me. He talked about the thirty years he's known me, and said I'm one of the people who stands up when others wither — including when he and his wife came under the worst kind of political attack.

Coming from a sitting Justice of the United States Supreme Court, I won't pretend that didn't mean something to me.
But the real story that day was his. Justice Thomas grew up dirt poor in Pin Point, Georgia. His family's house burned down when he was six. He lived in a one-room tenement with no indoor plumbing before his grandparents took him in at seven — a man he calls the greatest he's ever known.
His grandfather worked him hard, no excuses and no gloves in the cold. And it was that same grandfather who, when a young and angry Thomas said the country needed to be torn down, asked him a question he says he still can't fully answer: if you destroy it, where do you go instead?
That question — and his faith — turned his life around. Today he sits on the highest court in the land, and he refuses to let anyone tell him what he's supposed to believe because of the color of his skin.
That's the America I believe in. It's also the America the radical left is working every single day to tear down. [[link removed]]
