Welcome to September, peacemakers! August was an action-packed month at CODEPINK as folks organized Summer of Peace and Love events around the country. Here on the West Coast, CODEPINK Sonoma County hosted a Northern California Peace Camp, featuring teach-ins, trainings, and street theater.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, CODEPINK Vermont went on a month-long, statewide 'More Farms, Not Arms' trailer tour, educating Vermonters about the state's role in the war machine. Our co-founder Jodie Evans also began a series of Summer of Peace teach-ins that will continue into September.

This month marks 25 years since the U.S. launched its Global War of Terror. Throughout the fall, we'll be commemorating key dates with social media posts, online programming, and in-person events. It's been 25 years of terror — and we know it hasn't ended. We hope you'll join us and organize locally to put an end to U.S. imperialism once and for all.

🔊 25 Years: Global War of Terror

Twenty-five years ago, the U.S. launched what it called the “Global War on Terror” in the immediate aftermath of the September 11th attacks. Immediately, anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiment spread like wildfire through the establishment media, the flames being fanned by the Bush Administration. 

The Global War of Terror never ended, and the surveillance and anti-immigration infrastructure has only expanded since. We are no safer now than we were 25 years ago. The departments and tactics that saw their first iterations in that era, such as the Department of Homeland Security, evolved and grew. ICE roam the streets, executing people in broad daylight; Flock cameras metastasize around the country, anti-Muslim hate crimes continue, and torture black-sites like Guantanamo detention center remain open. 

Ending the Global War of Terror means putting a stop to everything it created and changing the trajectory that the Bush administration set us on — and every administration since decided to continue. Ending the Global War of Terror means:


👉🏼 Cutting the Pentagon budget
👉🏼 Abolishing ICE and DHS
👉🏼 Accountability for the war criminals 

And for the movement for social justice, it means feminist organizations refusing to be used as tools for warmongers and imperialists. Educate each other, inspire others, and take action with us now!

Los Angeles Teach-in & School Supply Drive

CODEPINK LA hosted a teach-in and school supply drive at All Power Books to collect supplies for kids in local schools! CODEPINKer Marcy Winograd also facilitate a teach-in on the influence of the ADL and other Zionist institutions on California public schools.



Philly 81st Anniversary of Nagasaki Atomic Bombing Commemorative Action 

CODEPINK Philly and friends hosted a vigil outside Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the U.S. atomic attack on Nagasaki, Japan. The new pastor of the cathedral also joined community members in community and remembrance.



Portland Peace Camp

CODEPINK Portland hosted a Summer Potluck and Mutual Aid Event during the Peace Camp! CODEPINKers distributed flyers about Cuba, Palestine, and cutting the Pentagon budget. They also gathered supplies for local mutual aid networks and hosted a potluck meal!



Detroit School Supply Drive

Tell the Center for Reproductive Rights: Stand with Palestine!

The Center for Reproductive Rights is the first of many organizations we are calling on as part of CODEPINK's Feminists: Stand with Palestine campaign. They are a global legal organization that upholds reproductive and sexual rights for women, not only in courts but also through consultations with other human rights organizations. They are active worldwide, fighting for reproductive and sexual health as a basic human right from the U.S. to Africa to Asia — but somehow Palestine is missing from the picture!

💖 Ask Ms. Rachel to listen to Cuba’s children too!

Millions of families have come to know Ms. Rachel as an educator who speaks to children with extraordinary kindness and respect. More recently, she has used that same compassion to listen to Palestinian children, amplifying their voices with courage and helping people see their lives and dreams with greater humanity. We are deeply grateful to her for that.

Now, we are asking Ms. Rachel to extend that same courage and compassion to children whose stories are rarely heard in the United States: the children of Cuba.
