Almost.

Here's the thing: I wrote you a long email about this. I always do. My team reads it, and then my team cuts it, and what's left is mostly the parts I couldn't argue them out of.

So here's everything that got deleted, in one line each:

* The section on how this money actually gets spent: operations, mail, staff, reaching voters, answering the attacks my opponent's backers are about to start running.

* The part explaining that this is the last monthly checkpoint before our books close on the quarter, and that the report gets published while people in Illinois are already voting.

* Roughly 400 words on how Citizens United opened the floodgates for billionaires and corporate money, and why small-dollar fundraising is the only serious check on it that anybody's come up with in fifteen years.

* A paragraph I'd describe as "heartfelt" and my finance director described as "long."

Here's the part that survived, because it's the only part that matters:

Your dollar is one of the most powerful tools you have in our current political system. A few bucks won't fix everything. But if 100, 200, or 500 people each give a few bucks at a time, we're off to a damn good start.

We only have a few hours left in August, and we still haven't hit our End-of-Month goal. Pitch in before midnight to help defend this purple-ish seat, take back the House, and build a Republic that works for the majority of Americans instead of a select few. [[link removed]]
