My finance team handed me a piece of paper this morning with one number circled in red:
$1,487.63.
That's exactly how far we are from our fundraising goal.
Not $1,400. Not "about $1,500." Exactly $1,487.63 – which means somewhere along the way, even the spare change started causing trouble.
I asked if we could simply erase the number. Apparently, that's "not how accounting works."
So, I'm turning to you. If everyone reading this chips in $5, $15, or $35, we can knock this number down to zero before midnight.
Senate Democrats have plenty of Looney Megadonors ready to write them checks bigger than the Louisiana Purchase. I'm betting on regular Americans who know that a little common sense is worth protecting. Will you pitch in before midnight and help me turn $1,487.63 into a big, beautiful zero? I'll check the numbers again tomorrow. With your help, maybe my finance team will walk in smiling this time.
