Charles County Library Workers Ratify First Union Contract |

Charles County library workers, represented by UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, have ratified their first-ever collective bargaining agreement!
This agreement marks a major and historic milestone for Charles County Public Library employees, establishing improved wages, working conditions and workplace protections and giving workers a stronger voice on the job.

Verbal Beginnings Teamsters start week seven of strike |

The Registered Behavioral Technicians at Verbal Beginnings, represented by Teamsters 639, held their second Living Wage Rally on Thursday, August 27, and are now entering week seven of their strike due to the company's refusal to negotiate a fair first collective bargaining agreement. Living and working in one of Maryland's most expensive counties, these Teamsters are seeking livable wages that reflect the highly specialized services they provide to their community.

Join fellow union members, retirees, families, and labor allies as we proudly showcase the strength, solidarity, and unity of organized labor throughout the Washington metropolitan region.
The parade steps off at 10:00 AM on Labor Day, and we want every affiliate represented as we honor the contributions of working people and demonstrate that unions continue to be a powerful force for good in our communities. Wear your union colors, bring your family, and march with us as we celebrate the achievements of the labor movement and recommit ourselves to fighting for good jobs, fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity for all workers. Together, let's make this year's Greenbelt Labor Day Parade our strongest showing yet! |

National Nurses United and community partners invite you to a Community Forum on September 9th with Councilmember Janeese Lewis George to demand MedStar reopen Washington Hospital Center's postpartum unit and fight for a healthcare system that works for all of us. On July 26th, the hospital closed one of its two postpartum units, eliminating over a third of beds at DC’s busiest maternity hospital, where 1 in 3 babies in the District are born. Nurses immediately warned that cutting bed capacity threatens patient safety, especially during DC's severe Black maternal mortality crisis, where Black parents account for 90% of pregnancy-related deaths. Come build connections across our community, and take action to build a better healthcare system.
