NEW UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION
SMU’s DEI office didn’t disappear. It changed names.
Think private universities are abandoning DEI? Think again.
An undercover Accuracy in Media investigation has exposed how DEI-related work is being kept alive at Southern Methodist University -- even as the university renames offices and programs.
SMU administrator Danielle Palomo told our investigator:
“We’ve had to do a lot of maneuvering in order to remain kind of hidden under a lot of things.”
Palomo said the university’s former Office of Diversity and Inclusion is now called the Office of Cultural Intelligence.
“That office still exists just under a different name.”
Renaming an office doesn’t change what it does -- and it doesn’t
explain why an employee described the work as needing to
remain “hidden.”
