Access Health Training: Maternal Health Disparities, Resources & Solutions
September 3, 2026

In this training, we will explore disparities in maternal health outcomes, the factors contributing to these disparities, and protective factors that can support improved outcomes. We’ll review federal, state, and local data, as well as relevant policies, programs, and resources.

Participants will also learn practical strategies for helping to bridge existing gaps and advance maternal health equity. By the end of the training, participants will have a foundational understanding of what is happening, why it is happening, what is being done, and how they can be part of the solution.

Access Health Training: Understanding Sickle Cell Disease & Health Equity

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month!
In this training, we will explore the basics of sickle cell disease (SCD), its prevalence, and the stigma that individuals living with SCD may experience when seeking medical care. We’ll discuss what SCD is, the intersection of race and SCD, and available resources and support. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of SCD, who is most likely to be affected, the challenges individuals with SCD may face when accessing care, and how to connect with organizations serving this population.

Asylum Protections for African Survivors of Gender Violence

This virtual training equips legal service providers to assist African clients with humanitarian relief claims related to gender-based violence (GBV) and/or female genital cutting (FGC). It covers relevant African cultural contexts, intersecting identities or conditions, common experiences throughout the immigration process, and tools to recognize and combat discrimination while meeting clients’ needs.

DOJ Recognition and Accreditation

This virtual training will detail recognition and accreditation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) certification that allows non-attorney staff and volunteers with non-profit agencies to provide immigration legal services and represent clients before agencies of DHS. We will discuss the requirements and process for submitting both new and renewal applications for DOJ recognition for non-profit organizations and DOJ accreditation for the organization’s staff.

NYIC & M&T Bank Present: Understanding Banking & Financial Services | Train-the-Trainer Series for Immigrant Service Providers

Part One: Banking Basics

The New York Immigration Coalition and M&T Bank are excited to launch a new Training of the Trainers series introducing participants to facilitator-ready curricula on key banking topics.

The series aims to support immigrant-serving organizations in helping their communities better understand and navigate the U.S. banking system. Participants will be guided through each curriculum, gaining the knowledge and tools to confidently deliver and adapt the materials to meet the needs of their audiences.

In the first session, Banking Basics, you’ll build your understanding of foundational banking concepts and learn how to train others on the essentials of the U.S. banking system. We’ll cover key banking concepts, documentation requirements, common barriers to accessing financial services, and considerations for immigrants who may be new to the U.S. financial system.

Basics of Bond Practice at Immigration Court

This training will focus on describing the basic principles of bond requests with Immigration Court ranging from mandatory detentions to new arguments DHS is making against bonds to helpful evidence to how to best present your bond in Court. We will walk through case patterns, discuss issue spotting and identify evidence gathering to build a persuasive bond argument. This training presumes a basic understanding of immigration law.

Navigating the NYC School System: A Guide for Immigrant Families Part 2

With thousands of schools to choose from, the New York City education system can be overwhelming, especially for immigrants and families newly arrived in the city. Join InsideSchools for a two-part training where we will pull back the curtain and explore everything you need to know to help families make informed decisions about their children’s education — from how to find the right school to how parents can become involved in their child’s school.

Part Two, we will review the process to apply to 3K, Pre-K, Kindergarten, Middle School, High School, and Summer Rising. We will walk through a demonstration of the school admissions process and answer your questions.

CityFHEPS Program Overview and Renewal Application Webinar

This webinar provides an overview of the CityFHEPS program and will simulate a mock renewal completion on ACCESS HRA. Participants will have general familiarity with the CITYFHEPS program and the renewal process. This training is specific to the CityFHEPS renewal process and will not cover details of eligibility criteria or the initial application process.
