Since Donald Trump took office for the second time, I have been vigilant about defending Washingtonians against his administration’s overreach - especially into our elections.
In January, I joined an amicus brief at the Supreme Court, defending Washington's practice of counting ballots postmarked by Election Day and demanded the Justice Department stop pressuring states to hand over their voter rolls.
In March, I released a report showing the SAVE America Act would cost Washington taxpayers more than $35 million in a single year.
In April, I helped introduce the Absentee and Mail Voter Protection Act to block the executive order attacking mail ballots and I joined the Senate task force defending our elections from interference.
In June, I co-sponsored the Right To Vote Act, the first affirmative federal guarantee of the right to vote in American history.
In July, I sent a letter to the Postmaster General telling him plainly that the Postal Service must obey the federal courts that found this executive order unconstitutional.
And this month, I demanded the administration stop its illegal voter-roll purges. Then, when Donald Trump convinced the Supreme Court to let his anti-vote-by-mail executive order move forward, I stood up again and made clear: He cannot weaponize the Postal Service to decide who receives a ballot or whose vote gets counted.
That is eight months of relentless fight. That is not a press release strategy. That is a record.
And here’s the hard part: The people on the other side of this fight are backed by mega-donors and dark-money groups that benefit when fewer people have a voice. They’ve made their endgame clear: keep spending and sowing doubt until vote-by-mail is extinct - and casting a ballot becomes a privilege instead of a right.
We cannot lose free and fair elections. We cannot lose vote by mail. I am asking you to help me keep this fight funded. Whatever you can give today goes directly towards supporting my campaign and my effort to protect the right to vote.
