Patriot, Before I was ever "Senator Collins," I was just a kid from Caribou who grew up in Aroostook County - about as far north as you can go and still call it Maine. Every fall, when the leaves turned and the air got that first bite of cold, I was out in the fields picking potatoes alongside my neighbors. That's how I grew up. That's who I am. You learn things picking potatoes in the County that you can't learn anywhere else. You learn what it means to put in an honest day's work. You learn that nobody owes you anything. You earn it, row by row, barrel by barrel. And you learn to know your way around people who work hard for a living, because you are one of them. That's the Maine I carry with me every single day in Washington. Not the polished version of politics, the real one. The one where you fix the leaky faucet yourself, you know your mail carrier's name, and you never forget where you came from. I've dedicated my life to fighting for the people of Maine - for our fishermen, our farmers, our small businesses, our veterans, our seniors trying to make ends meet. Not because it's easy, and not because it always makes headlines, but because that's what a real Mainer does for other Mainers. I'm still that girl from Aroostook County. And I need your help to keep fighting for the state that raised me. So, I am humbly asking if you can help me hit my September 15th deadline. We are a little bit behind, and it would mean a lot to get ahead. Can you please chip in $10, $20, or $50? |
