First, thank you.

Every time I've asked this team to step up this summer — to volunteer, help us organize, protect voters, and elect Democrats here in Southeastern Pennsylvania — you've answered.

And while Congress has been out of session, I’ve been back home doing the work that representation should be about: meeting with local leaders, visiting nonprofits that help our community, talking directly with my constituents, and making sure the people I represent know I’m listening. (We even paid a visit to Eagles training camp; Go Birds!)

I’m also committing time and resources to campaigning for targeted candidates and races here at home and nationwide. I’m working with Democratic candidates not only here in Pennsylvania but also across the country — including Blake Gendebien, a second-generation dairy farmer who has a real chance to flip Elise Stefanik’s former seat in New York.

That means when you give to my campaign, YOU — yes, you John — are actively playing a critical role in electing Democrats up and down the ballot, as well as our path to a Democratic Majority in Congress.

I know that is a mission you want to get behind. That is why I’m coming to you now with an important request: August 31 is an internal budget deadline, one that will lay the foundation for a strong FEC filing at the end of next month and determine how many checks we can send out to targeted races that need the boost in resources to bring them closer to victory. I've said this before because it's important: what happens here in Southeastern Pennsylvania will determine who controls the House next year.

We need to defend Democratic seats like mine. We need to help flip competitive districts across Pennsylvania. And we need the organizing, voter protection, and communications infrastructure to turn out every voter we possibly can. That means continuing the work our coordinated office has been doing all summer: canvassing, supporting Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, and refining the voter-contact operation that can turn close races into wins.

It means hosting and attending town halls with my fellow Democrats while Republicans run and hide (they’ve only done 39 this year! And we’ve held 451!).

None of that can wait. We have to build and run these programs right now.

Republicans know how important SEPA is, too. They're going to spend millions trying to hold their majority — and they'll be looking for any opening we give them.

That’s why I'm not planning to give them one.
