I’ll be direct: Donald Trump is attacking our free and fair elections to desperately hold on to power.

He’s made numerous attempts to subvert this fall’s elections because he knows he’s nearly certain to lose them.

Well, I have an update for you – and there’s bad news and good news.

Here’s the bad news: Trump’s DOJ just announced that they will deploy 1,000 election monitors at polling places during this year’s midterms. We should assume that these monitors will be some of the most eager Trump loyalists. They may intimidate voters and election officials, or collect information that can be weaponized to cast doubt on election results that President Trump doesn’t like.

But here’s the good news: The last few months have been a series of humiliating defeats for Trump and his DOJ – they’re 0-23 in court.

Look, I know firsthand that Trump is beatable. I’ve even taken him on in court myself – and I’m proud to say I beat him and his allies 64 times after the 2020 election. And I’m not the only one on the frontline of this fight. Democratic governors are holding the line in their states too – standing up to Trump by taking him to court while simultaneously delivering for the people they serve.

We’ve seen time and again that this administration will assert powers they do not have in order to achieve Trump’s political goals – this won’t be any different. That’s why it’s never been more important that we invest in electing more Dem govs.
