It’s the end of the month, which means you’re probably getting about a thousand emails right now from different political candidates telling you why today is do-or-die for their campaign. 

To be completely honest, most of those deadlines are BS. They’re an attempt to drum up urgency and get people to give. But Alabama, and our campaign in particular, is a little different. So I want to take a moment to explain why Monday’s deadline actually matters and ask for your help. 

Unlike most states, Alabama requires campaigns like ours to report our fundraising every month. We have to open up our books and show exactly how much we raised, how much we spent, and how much we have left. 

Especially as we head into these final two months of the campaign, people pay attention to those numbers. Journalists, political organizations, donors, and outside groups are going to decide which races are worth paying attention to and investing in. 

People want to support campaigns that they think can win. And over these final two months, attention across the country is going to increasingly focus on the races where people believe an upset is actually possible. We have to prove that we have what it takes. 

So Monday’s deadline is going to be one of the biggest tests of strength of our entire campaign. If we continue to dramatically outraise Tuberville, it will send a powerful message that this race is real, our movement is growing, and we have what it takes, and we can bring the attention, support, and resources into this race that we need to win.
