Last October, I launched my campaign to be the first Democratic Governor of Texas in over thirty years.
Now, we’re two months away from Texans casting their ballots, and I wanted to take a moment to recap all that we have built so far to remind everyone what it is we are fighting for: securing the American Dream by saving our public schools and putting money in your pocket.
Our race has been in the news a lot lately because Texans are ready for change. We started this race 12 points down from Greg Abbott, closed that gap to 3 points, and now we are effectively tied against Abbott. That doesn’t happen by accident. That’s the power of grassroots supporters like you making their voices heard.
I’m humbled by all of the Texans who have invited me into their communities and allowed me to listen to the issues affecting them the most — data centers in their backyard guzzling up the water and sending electricity costs through the roof, their neighborhood schools closing, selling plasma to make ends meet, and so much more. All the while Abbott has the power to change things and instead chooses to do nothing.
It’s time for him to go. In this final stretch of my campaign, I’m going to need your continued support. We have just a few weeks before ballots are cast, and my team and I are driving all across Texas to make sure we win this November. But first…
Here’s how it all started:
Last fall, I announced my campaign to run against Greg Abbott because I knew that Texans deserved a leader who would put them — not donors — first. We launched the campaign where I grew up, in the Valley, with a slogan my grandmother taught me: No te dejes. Know your worth and fight for it. I’m ready to fight back.
Texans deserve a leader who will fight for everyone to have a chance at achieving the American Dream. Right now, we’re all paying the Greg Abbott Corruption Tax. Abbott has hoarded $27 billion in taxpayer money – while families struggle to pay their bills. As Governor, I’d issue a $1500 Greg Abbott Corruption Tax refund check to put money in your pocket.
Greg Abbott is out of touch with his base and has been the most unpopular he has ever been. Texans know when they aren’t being treated fairly. He has constantly put the needs of his donors before Texans, and we’ve all had enough.
We launched Team Texas Public Schools.
Texas Public Schools are in crisis, so we’re building a movement for Texans who love their neighborhood schools and are ready to fight for them. It’s time we put an end to Abbott’s $1 billion school voucher scam.
I remain committed to investing in the education of our kids and retaining quality teachers. We even launched a toolkit [ [link removed] ] for parents, teachers, school administrators, and anyone else looking to get involved to amplify our message and help save our Texas neighborhood schools.
I’ve always believed a quality education is the first step to achieving the American Dream, and that can’t happen if schools close or classrooms don’t have teachers. I fought against Abbott’s voucher scam four times as a state legislator and got my start in advocacy fighting the closure of my own son’s local school.
I am beyond ready to keep fighting for Texas kids and undo the damage Abbott has done on our education system.
I went to the soon-to-be largest data center in the world.
I called on Greg Abbott to issue a moratorium on all data centers until our state legislature can meet and put in place real protections for the people of Texas.
Rural communities should not have to compete with mega-corporations for clean water and the right to their land. After years of Greg Abbott opening the floodgates to his data center donors, we need to put a stop to the madness until we can thoughtfully regulate this fast-changing industry.
Abbott can put a stop to data center construction, today. Instead, he’s haphazardly called for a temporary pause that we all know will evaporate the day after the election. We can’t let him get away with it.

We shattered the attendance record at the Grand Dancehall in Beeville, Texas.
I’ve been visiting deep red towns in Texas and am humbled by all of the support I’ve received. My race is an opportunity for all Texans to come together and fight back against Greg Abbott’s political corruption that has locked working Texans out of key policy decisions.
I promise you this: help is on the way.
I’m running to be the leader that Texans deserved in the first place. I won’t be beholden to Washington or corporate interests that go against what’s best for the people that make up our great state.

Now we’ve launched TV ads.
Texans are hungry for change. When I was a little girl growing up in South Texas, I knew who Texas belonged to. It belonged to all of us. Our beloved state, the land of opportunity, where you could be anything you wanted to be if you worked hard.
I’m fighting hard to get back to that version of Texas. The version that benefits all Texans and not just those at the very top. We have about nine weeks left of our campaign, and I’m not backing down. Texans are fired up and determined to fight for their future, and I am honored to help lead the charge.
