John, I want to take a moment to recognize the importance of this Labor Day -- a day to remember the great sacrifices of our union brothers and sisters and working families across our district. To all who have fought for the betterment of the working class, for good jobs and working conditions, I am deeply thankful. The fact is that across California’s 39th and around the country, too many working families are struggling to get by while Washington politicians side with special interests. I know that folks deserve more, John -- and that’s why, in Congress, I’m proud to be fighting to protect workers’ rights, to increase the minimum wage and ensure a living wage for all Americans, to ensure equal pay for equal work, and to strengthen union protections. To those who are working on the frontlines during this time of deep uncertainty -- I see you, and I thank you. Happy Labor Day. With deep gratitude, -- Gil |
