At the very end of the primary, there were polls floating around showing us up five points, ten points, pick a number.
We won by 1%.
One point, after a campaign the pundits and the politicians, you know, the very serious people, said could never succeed. After more than $70 million spent against us by AIPAC and corporate interests.
I told my team the next morning what that number meant to me, and I want to tell you the same thing. Any one of you could have been the person who tipped it.
It’s not a figure of speech – it’s just math. Now, here we are again. We're tied with Mike Rogers in the newest polling. Trump's handpicked candidate, a 30-year career politician with over a year of spending and tens of millions of dollars behind his name recognition.
Tied. With a few weeks left, in one of the seats that decides control of the United States Senate.
So, I need to ask you for something.
Tomorrow, August 31, is our end-of-month fundraising deadline. It's one of the very last we'll have before Michiganders begin voting, and right now we're running short of our projections.
I'm not going to dress that up. I have never taken a dime of corporate PAC money, and I never will. I won the primary without a single dollar from AIPAC, and that hasn't changed and won't change in the general. I'm not calling a corporate CEO tonight to close this gap. I'm asking you, John.
