Dwight Evans for Congress

John,

Today, I urge you to take a few moments to remember why we're celebrating Labor Day. Some of us are able to enjoy this day off thanks to the sacrifices of the countless working people who came before us, and our country wouldn't be where it is today without labor unions.

People began organizing in the workplace because they knew that when we leverage our collective power, we can secure meaningful changes for ourselves and for the future. Together, unions secured paid sick leave, the minimum wage, weekends, the 40-hour workweek, and countless other advancements through blood, sweat, sacrifice, and tears.

That's why I will always fight to protect and strengthen our labor unions, because treating working people right is the only option. This Labor Day, I hope you'll join me in thanking our labor unions >>

Dwight standing with union workers

The fight for fair and equitable workplaces was never easy, and it's still ongoing.

Frontline workers are continuing to show up and do their jobs, while holding corrupt employers accountable. Unions are calling for personal protective equipment, hazard pay, and paid sick leave to help keep workers safe.

I stand in solidarity with the labor movement. And as we move forward through the current health crisis, it's important we continue to advocate for working people and lift up their demands.

Labor is more than a source of income, it's a source of pride. Today, please join me in thanking our labor unions.

Have a safe Labor Day,

Dwight
