The use of wireless modems makes our election systems more vulnerable by exposing them to online attacks, which is why Free Speech For People has been leading the fight to end this dangerous practice. We recently exposed the largest voting system vendor for falsely claiming that its voting machines with wireless modems are federally certified. This work is more urgent than ever before. The window of time available to address the faults in our election systems is closing fast, and the added challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic mean that 2020’s elections require voting systems that are safe, secure, and reliable. President Trump has actively and repeatedly attacked methods of voting, including voting by mail and expanding early voting, that are considered safer during this public health crisis than traditionally crowded election day gatherings. Further, while many election officials are working overtime to ensure a free and fair election in their states, some are doing everything in their power to keep Americans from exercising their constitutional right to vote. That’s where we come in.
