John -- It’s Labor Day and essential workers continue to risk their lives by keeping this country running during a pandemic. Yet far too many don’t receive livable wages in exchange for their work. 

The labor rights we have today required millions of Americans rising up to demand better. And, we still have a long way to go. That’s why Brand New Congress supports candidates who’ve stood on picket lines and demanded living wages. Our candidates support strong unions and an end to union-crushing Right to Work laws, in addition to ending the expanding temp-jobs racket. 

Let’s elect more activists to Congress and fewer career politicians.

AOC worked in the service industry as a bartender in the Bronx before she ran for office. Cori Bush put herself through school as a single mother to become a registered mental health nurse. And Jamaal Bowman worked as an educator for underprivileged students, advocating for equity in education. It's not enough to celebrate labor one weekend a year. Our teachers, our nurses, our service workers deserve better. 

Everyone should have the dignity of a living wage, benefits, childcare, and training. We all deserve for the work we do to be rewarded fairly. The wage gap is larger than it’s ever been. We don’t need to elect more bureaucrats and millionaires. We need to elect more workers and activists who have walked in our shoes.
