Today is Labor Day. Like many, I'm enjoying the day with family in our quarantine, reflecting on the labor movement, the sacrifices that were made, and the progress won for working families like mine.

Today is Labor Day. Like many, I'm enjoying the day with family in our quarantine, reflecting on the labor movement, the sacrifices that were made, and the progress won for working families like mine.

Today, my kids do not have to work to help put food on the table. Today, their mother and I get to come home after a 40-hour work week and enjoy a weekend off. And today, we are guaranteed a minimum wage and the protection of our American jobs.

None of these things Amanda and I take for granted today came without a fight. Our forefathers and foremothers saw the rampant inequalities of their time. They united in their efforts, demanded change, and made it happen. Today we reflect, thanking them for their efforts, and vowing to keep fighting for justice in our time.

I'm proud to stand beside the union members of our community as we fight onward for guaranteed paid sick leave, personal protective equipment for all front-line essential workers, and affordable healthcare for all our working families. We work together and I am proud to have their support for our campaign:

Together, there is nothing we cannot achieve. Our fight for working families, shared prosperity, and the American dream continues onward.
