Friends,
First of all, I want to say thank you.
Let me explain why:
This campaign has raised an extraordinary amount of money from an extraordinary number of people giving small-dollar, grassroots donations. That grassroots support is something that I’m grateful for every day. I promise you: I never, ever take you or your support for granted.
But the reality is that even with that unprecedented level of grassroots support, we still have critical fundraising goals to meet in the final stretch of this campaign to build the resources it’ll take to win here in Georgia.
The Senate GOP’s main Super PAC — which is just one of many right-wing Super PACs who could spend money on this race — has raised more than $500 million. And then there’s still Trump and his Super PAC, plus other far-right billionaires like Elon Musk waiting in the wings.
The truth is that MAGA can spend endlessly attacking us because they’ve got an army of billionaires and corporate PAC donors lining up to fund the smears.
We expect to be outspent in this race, possibly by hundreds of millions of dollars. We don’t need to match the Super PACs dollar for dollar, but we do need to make sure we get our message out.
So please, I’m humbly asking:
Post-Citizens United, Super PACs and secret money in politics are totally out of control, corrupting policymaking on behalf of the rich and powerful.
And when members of Congress aren't fundraising from lobbyists and corporate PACs, they're just trying to dodge getting bombed by these Super PACs.
Candidates all over the country are facing down hundreds of millions in Super PAC spending from dark-money groups that don’t even disclose their donors until after the election, if ever.
Is this the way we want our government to work? Do we really want to allow unlimited, secret political money to bend the nation’s agenda in darkness?
Folks: All across Georgia and all across the country, a wave is building. The kind of wave that comes once a generation, when the people have been pushed too far and decide all together, all at once: enough is enough.
That is the message that we’re going to send when we WIN this November.
Yes, this election will be tough.
But I know how to win tough fights. I’ve done it before.
Let’s do it again.
Thank you, sincerely, for chipping in if you can and for everything you do to support this campaign and this movement.
As always,
Jon
