John,

This Labor Day, I'm thinking about the value of hard work.

And trust me, after taking out a loan at age 14, buying my own commercial fishing boat, and putting myself through college and medical school, I am no stranger to it.

But today, I'm not thinking about myself.

I'm thinking about those who tirelessly support their families and each other when they go to work every single day -- especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. And I'm thinking about the 30 million Americans who are struggling to find work right now, as we experience unprecedented unemployment rates nationwide.

These are the people who make our country what it is -- and they are the truest example of hard work.

That's why I'm proud to have, just last week, received an endorsement from The Alaska American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (Alaska AFL-CIO).

From the beginning, this has been a campaign by and for the people -- and I'm proud to support our essential workers, those seeking work, labor rights, and unions.

And not just today, John. I'm proud to stand with our workers every day.
