John,
I hope you and your family are having a safe, relaxing Labor Day weekend -- and are enjoying yourselves. These past six months have not been easy, especially for America's essential workers; with a little luck, the long weekend -- and good weather -- will buoy all our spirits.
In a normal year, I'd be joining Oregon's proud union members and their leaders today at their glorious picnic in Oaks Park. It's a great chance to socialize and to honor the labor movement that has done so much for America.
Though this year's celebration is different, we must rededicate ourselves to working toward an America that treats all its workers with the respect to which they're entitled. It's a real honor for me to be able to stand in solidarity with all of Oregon's workers. Not just today -- but every day.
The labor movement has also been the first line of defense against attacks by the Trump Administration, which seems committed to destroying workers' rights -- and so much more.
As the People's Attorney, I know working families are entitled to workplace equality, fairness, and safety -- and the right to collective bargaining. I am pleased to have the support of so many of Oregon's labor unions. As long as I am in office, I will do everything in my power to look out for Oregon's workers.
Happy Labor Day!
