Hi John -

I’m a mom, an educator and a volunteer with Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) in South Carolina.

Every day, I see the impact of voting to elect lawmakers who have kids at the top of their agenda. But today, I want to share a story about the impact voting has on my son, Messiah.

Starting when he was just 3 years old, I would take him to vote with me. We would talk about why the election mattered and why I was supporting whoever was on the ballot. We even sat down and filled out an absentee ballot when we were traveling one year on Election Day – an important lesson this year in particular!

I didn’t know how much of an impression this was making on Messiah until he turned 18. I brought him home an application to register to vote and when I gave it to him, he said “Mom, I already did that! You’ve been taking me to vote since I was 3. I know how important it is to vote so I already registered.”

I know my son will be voting this November, but I worry about millions of other young adults who haven’t developed that habit yet. They need to be reminded to get out to vote, and that’s where you come in.

You’ve been one of our core supporters and we greatly appreciate it. Please show your continued support with a donation of $20/month – or whatever you can afford – to support SCAN’s 2020 election efforts and all our work for kids and a generous donor will kick in an extra $200!

This election is going to be so important, especially given the challenges our country faces right now. In my community I’ve seen a lot more families struggling to put food on their tables. Our schools stepped up and have been continuing to serve meals to kids in need, and many people are stepping up to volunteer. But it is going to take much more work from our elected officials to ensure that kids don’t go hungry as their parents get back on their feet.

We need to turn out voters for kids this election year more than ever.

Please make a donation of $20/month – or a one-time contribution if that works better for you – before Labor Day ends and your impact will be magnified!

Thank you!

PS – Not able to make a monthly donation at this point? That’s no problem – your one-time donation will make a huge difference and if you make it before Labor Day ends our generous donor will double it!

As we head into the November election, Save the Children Action Network will be working to get out the vote – for kids! Please donate $20 – or whatever you can afford – before Labor Day ends and see your impact multiplied – all donations will be DOUBLED up to $20,000 thanks to a generous supporter!
