For two decades, the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation has helped bring lifesaving care closer to home and opened doors for countless young El Pasoans in medicine and science.
 
MCA has proved that investing in the health of El Pasoans builds a healthier, stronger community. For their incredible work, I was proud to join this year's Border Health Innovation Summit and present the foundation with a Congressional Record honoring their 20th anniversary. Congratulations to the entire MCA team and here's to the next 20 years!

Meeting with the San Juan Neighborhood Association

This week at the San Juan Neighborhood Association meeting, I shared with El Pasoans that Trump’s EPA had declined my request to investigate the incident at Marathon Refinery.

Our community deserves clean air and accountability. As the TCEQ conducts their own investigation, I won't stop fighting for answers and for concrete action to prevent this from happening again. I look forward to them sharing more information about what happened and how they will hold Marathon accountable.

TXCPA El Paso - Congressional Update

Federal tax and budget decisions aren’t abstract, and they affect affordability, small businesses, and what kind of future we can build for our children. I was grateful to spend time with members of the El Paso chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs and hear from local leaders, discuss my work in Congress and how I’m working on behalf of El Paso every day.

Meeting with Railroad Workers Union

Following last week’s derailment of 18 train cars, I met with railroad workers from SMART-TD Local 1571 to hear their concerns firsthand and express my sincere gratitude for their work. Their experience informs our response, which must always include stronger protections for workers, first responders, and every El Paso neighborhood along the tracks.

Presenting Flags to Retiring Staff from WBAMC         

On Tuesday, I presented flags that were flown over the United States Capitol in honor of three retiring members of the William Beaumont Army Medical Center team. Their lifetime of service exemplifies the very best of El Paso, and their work has strengthened the care our servicemembers and military families receive day in and out.

To each of them: thank you, congratulations, and enjoy this well-earned next chapter.

I am incredibly proud of our community’s roots - I started this contest in the hope that we can come together to uplift young people’s voices in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. I invite all middle school students in our district to submit an essay for consideration.
