While we take today to light up the grill and enjoy an extra day off of work, it’s important that we take a moment to thank our fearless essential workers.
Faced with the worst public health crisis in a century, they kept our country moving.
But the truth is, Republicans have treated essential workers as anything but essential.
Republicans failed to provide them with a livable wage and hazard pay;
Republicans failed to provide them with safe, affordable childcare;
Republicans failed to provide them with proper PPE and sanitizing equipment to avoid getting sick on the job;
Republicans failed to protect and expand healthcare options so getting sick doesn’t break the bank;
This Labor Day, let’s not forget that Republicans have sided with big business during this crisis.
They shunned science, and encouraged their fanatics to do the same, putting workers in the unconscionable position of choosing between a paycheck and their health;
They fought to shield large corporations from liability for failing to protect their employees;
They even have fought against higher wages and hazard pay for essential workers.
Labor Day is a day for celebrating the trailblazers of our nation’s labor movement.
Let’s celebrate them by doing everything we can to kick each and every one of these anti-worker, anti-labor Republicans out of office for good on November 3rd.
