Happy Labor Day! As we celebrate this national holiday, let's especially keep in mind all of the essential workers who have remained the backbone of our state and our nation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many have risked their lives in order to provide crucial services, from first responders and health care workers to grocery, restaurant and delivery workers and so many others. During this time, it has become increasingly clear the importance of strong unions to protect our workers, especially during a time where their health and wellbeing is at a heightened risk.
Unfortunately, many workers still lack adequate health care coverage and job protections, and our current situation is even more devastating for them. We must continue our fight for worker rights and affordable healthcare.
So, as we celebrate with our families and friends (at an appropriate social distance) let's not only celebrate the progress we have made, but remember that we still have work ahead of us. And that work can only be made possible by electing more Democrats up and down the ballot in our state of New Jersey and beyond in November. Our families and our country cannot afford to go back to the days when workers were shamelessly exploited by their employers.
We wish you and your family, friends, and loved ones a safe and happy Labor Day.
