Labor Day parades and summer cookouts were cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but we still have plenty of reason to celebrate.

American workers—especially our essential workers—carried us through some of the most challenging months of our lives. In fact, they will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Front line workers are keeping America running—from our hospitals and grocery stores to local clinics, food pantries, and gas stations.

While many of us have the luxury of working remotely, these heroes have been lacing up their boots and heading out the door to get to work.

Can you join me in saying thank you to our incredible frontline workers in Massachusetts and across the country?

In Congress, I’ve called for expanded statewide protections for grocery store workers during this pandemic, following the death of a wonderful Market Basket employee in my hometown.

As I wrote in a letter to Governor Baker, these employees face a difficult decision: leave their jobs to protect their own health and safety, or show up to work so that we all can eat.

My colleagues in Congress have also called for stronger worker protections in the face of this pandemic. Democrats have been fighting for American workers and their families—and we will continue to do so. And make no mistake, two champions for this core value of our party are on the ticket this year in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
