Folks,

Today is Labor Day, but it’s also the last day of Senate recess.

For the last 25 days, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has left Mississippi’s families, teachers, students, workers, and businesses to their own devices, after failing to pass any additional relief.

In the middle of a global pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, Hyde-Smith wasn’t just missing in action while COVID-19 cases surged and working families across our state suffered. She actually said we should “put the brakes on” more COVID-19 relief.

That’s not how a senator elected to represent the people should act.

As your senator, I will live by the words of Matthew 25:35: “For I was hungry and you gave me to eat: I thirsted, and you gave me to drink, I was a stranger and you took me in.”

We will care for the sick by expanding Medicaid. We will feed the hungry by providing unemployment relief and working to increase opportunities. We will take everyone in by attacking injustice and healing this country.

Mississippi needs a leader who is present and willing to lead. To listen. To unify. To lift each and every one of us up. Not someone who takes off when the going gets tough.

I can and will be that leader for you in 2021, if we can do what it takes over the next 57 days to overcome the challenges and win on November 3.

If you’re with me and you’re able to, please make a contribution of $10 or more and you’ll be directly contributing to our movement to move Mississippi forward and give our state the leader it deserves.
