John,
When my son Nate was diagnosed with leukemia, our family's world changed overnight. Alongside his Down syndrome diagnosis, we spent long days and nights navigating treatments and insurance. You won’t be shocked to hear that our health care system can make an already frightening experience even harder.

I know what it feels like to fight for your child's health while also fighting the system to get the care they need. No Delaware family should have to do both.
That's why accessible, affordable health care has been such a personal priority for me as a lawmaker. I've worked to expand health coverage, to strengthen Medicaid eligibility for children, to protect access to mental health and reproductive care, and to keep patients from being left waiting on insurance companies for treatment.
I carry those long days and nights beside Nate’s hospital bed with me in this work. So it strikes a chord with me when I see families worrying about insurance when their focus should be on getting their loved one well. I want to stop that from ever happening to you.

I'll keep fighting to make health care more affordable and accessible for the people it's supposed to serve.
