Today is supposed to be an occasion for celebrating the contributions of the labor movement — contributions that have made this country who we are.
But the backdrop of economic despair created by the ongoing pandemic can’t be ignored. Neither can the disastrous presidential leadership that has worsened this crisis and deepened the pain.
My thoughts are with the millions of people who have had their health or livelihoods impacted by COVID-19.
Together, we're going to come out of this crisis, restore the dignity of the American worker, and secure a more hopeful future for our families.
