We're going to get through the coronavirus outbreak together. If you are experiencing symptoms or are looking for more information, you can visit the website of the CDC or the Texas Department of Health. We are closely monitoring the situation and its effects on the people of Texas and our nation as we work together to keep our families and communities safe.
Happy Labor Day, y’all!
I want to take this opportunity to thank the hardworking men and women of Texas for being the backbone of our economy.
We’ve come a long way to have justice in the workplace -- from fighting for 40-hour work weeks to workplace safety and benefits -- but we still have a lot to do. I am talking about fighting for higher wages, access to quality healthcare, safer working conditions, and more benefits for our workers -- especially being that Texas is a right-to-work state.
Under the right-to-work law, unions are kneecapped which makes it easier for out-of-state corporations to lower wages and benefits and eliminate workplace safety regulations. This needs to change.
But we’re Texans. We don’t quit when the chips are down. When we get thrown off the horse, we get right back in the saddle. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work building a movement to move Texas forward.
That’s why it’s critical that we elect leaders on November 3rd who are willing to fight for working-class people. Leaders with a proven track record of creating good-paying union jobs -- and being champions for the little guy.
Together we will flip the Texas House Blue and build a stronger, better Texas for working-class people.
Thanks for you support,
Rep. Julie Johnson
