WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Scott (GA-13) released the following statement today in recognition of Labor Day:
“On Labor Day, we recognize the social and economic achievements of the American workforce throughout our nation’s history. Although this Labor Day may be far from normal, the ideals of our nation and our workforce remain sound.
“From union laborers to essential workers, we honor the contributions of hard-working American men and women to strengthen the prosperity of our state and our country. We also reaffirm our commitment to the principles of dignified work, perseverance regardless of circumstance, and unyielding support for the workers who move our nation forward.
“As your Congressman, I have strongly supported legislative efforts to preserve collective bargaining rights and provide a livable minimum wage for all workers, secure equal pay for equal work, and prohibit discrimination in the workplace.
“I believe that it is especially important to continue to support families and workers during this difficult time by ensuring safe and healthy workplaces, providing paid sick leave and lowered health care costs, and promoting job opportunities with a livable wage in today’s demanding economy. I will continue fighting in Washington to ensure that every American has access to good-paying jobs to provide a better life for themselves and their families.
“I wish all of my constituents of Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District a safe and happy Labor Day.”
